Human Rights

New York Committee for Human Rights in the Philippines (NYCHRP) shares the vision of human rights advanced by the National Democratic movement of the Philippines. NYCHRP educates, organizes, and mobilizes people and communities in New York City to take progressive action in upholding and supporting human rights in the Philippines and throughout the world.

NYCHRP believes that all people have the inalienable right to:

  • Life, Liberty, Dignity, and Security
  • Freedom of Ideas, Belief, Expression, and Assembly
  • Humane Treatment
  • Adequate Land, Food, Shelter, Health Care, and Education
  • Decent Working Conditions and Means of Livelihood
  • Due Process

What it means to be a NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC HUMAN RIGHTS ORGANIZATION: The substantive scope of human rights covers not only civil and political rights but also the economic, social, and cultural rights of the Filipino people. The people assert and fight for the full scope of human rights in their struggle for national and social liberation.
